Cricket's Three Formats and Major Tournaments

T20

Just 20 overs per side — the game moves fast and every ball counts. BPL and IPL are played in this format, making it the most popular among Bangladeshi fans. T20 also has the widest range of betting markets.

ODI

A 50-over one-day match. Batting, bowling and fielding all need to be balanced. The ICC Cricket World Cup is played in this format. Odds shift repeatedly during the longer game, making live betting especially interesting.

Test

A five-day match and cricket's toughest test. A draw is also a possible result — so there are three betting options here. Pitch behaviour and weather influence the outcome.

bijli Cricket Match Highlights

Cricket fans in Bangladesh follow BPL most closely — as a domestic franchise tournament, every match carries real tension. Beyond that, IPL, the T20 World Cup, and Bangladesh national team international series all generate large betting markets on bijli.

Cricket and football both get equal attention on bijli. For those who want to bet on club football as well as international matches, full details are available on the bijli football betting page. Football's own markets and odds work a little differently from cricket — a draw is always an option there.

Popular Betting Markets and Examples

You can bet across multiple markets for cricket matches on bijli. Below are the seven most commonly used markets.

Match Winner

A straight bet on which team will win the match. In T20 or ODI, you pick one of the two teams. Team A or Team B — back whichever you think is right.

Most Popular

Toss Winner

A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The outcome is entirely random — it has no connection to the pitch, form or innings. Many bettors treat it as a light, casual bet.

Quick Result

Top Batsman

A bet on which batter will score the most runs in an innings or across the whole match. The decision is made by considering the team's batting order and the nature of the pitch.

Expert Pick

Total Runs Over/Under

bijli sets a specific run total. You bet on whether the total runs scored in the match will be over or under that number. Wickets and pitch conditions are not the focus here — only the final score.

Score-Based

Multi Bet

Multiple matches or selections are combined into a single bet, and the odds are multiplied together. You need every selection to be correct to win — if even one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. There is potential for a higher return, but the risk is also higher.

Higher Returns

Handicap and Series

In handicap markets, the weaker team is given a virtual run advantage to level the bet. In series betting, you bet on which team will win the overall series — a longer-term commitment than a single match.

How to Read Odds

bijli displays odds in three formats — Decimal, Fractional and American. All three express the same probability for the same match; only the way they are written differs.

Format If Team A wins (example) What it means
Decimal 3.00 ৳500 stake returns ৳1,500 (৳1,000 profit + original stake)
Fractional 2/1 ৳2 profit for every ৳1 — ৳500 stake returns ৳1,000 profit
American +200 ৳200 profit on a ৳100 bet — a plus sign means the underdog

Team A's odds of 3.00 (Decimal) = 2/1 (Fractional) = +200 (American) — all three are the same. On a ৳500 bet, if Team A wins you get back ৳1,500 in total (৳1,000 profit plus your original ৳500 stake); if they lose, you lose the ৳500.

For a favourite such as Team B: Decimal 1.25 = Fractional 1/4 = American -400. A negative American odds figure means how much you need to stake to make ৳100 profit. In this case a ৳500 bet returns ৳625 (profit of ৳125).

Live In-Play Betting

bijli Live Cricket Betting Screen

The most engaging betting experience in cricket is live in-play — placing bets while the match is in progress. Odds shift instantly after every wicket, every six, or a run-out.

Why do odds change after a wicket?

When a team loses three wickets, their chances of winning drop — bijli immediately raises that team's odds. This means the same bet now offers the chance of a higher return.

What happens at the end of an over?

Odds move the most when a team falls behind the required run rate or pulls ahead sharply, at the end of the powerplay, or in the final over. These are the moments live bettors pay closest attention to.

Market Temporarily Suspended

After each ball or during an event, bijli may suspend betting for a few seconds — this is a normal process while new odds are being set.

Understanding Multi Bet Calculations

In a multi bet or parlay, several selections are combined and their odds are multiplied together. Take three selections from three different matches as an example:

Selection 1: Decimal odds 1.50

Selection 2: Decimal odds 1.80

Selection 3: Decimal odds 1.90

Combined odds: 1.50 × 1.80 × 1.90 = 5.13 (approximately)

On a ৳100 bet: If all three win, you get back ৳513. If any one loses, the full ৳100 is gone.

Multi bets offer higher returns but come with higher risk. Think of them as a form of entertainment — all betting is for fun.

A Few Practical Tips for Betting

  • 01
    Set a fixed budget
Before each session, decide on a limit and stick to it. Chasing losses by continuing to bet after a losing run is a common mistake.
  • 02
Understand the format before you bet
T20 and Test matches are very different. In T20 a single over can turn the game around; in Test cricket, weather and pitch conditions play a much bigger role.
  • 03
Get to know one market well
Rather than spreading across all markets at once, start with simpler ones like Match Winner or Total Runs.
  • 04
    No rushing in live betting
Odds change quickly in in-play betting. It is better to assess the situation calmly before making a decision.
  • 05
Betting is part of the entertainment
Bet to enjoy watching cricket more. It should not be thought of as a source of income. For more on responsible play, read the responsible gaming guidelines.

Cricket Betting FAQ

T20 matches finish quickly, so odds change fast and live betting is more active. ODI matches run over 50 overs — the situation shifts more gradually, giving you more time to decide on markets like total runs. In Test cricket, three outcomes are possible (win, loss, draw), which changes the nature of the bets as well.

If a match is cancelled or left incomplete, bijli generally voids the bet and returns the stake. However, if a result is determined by the Duckworth-Lewis method, the bet is settled on that result. For specific rules, see the terms and conditions.

BPL matches typically offer markets for Match Winner, Toss Winner, Top Batsman, Top Wicket-Taker, over in which the first wicket falls, and Total Runs Over/Under. In live betting, new markets are added after each over.

Simple calculation: multiply your stake by the decimal odds to get the total return. For example, if Team A's odds are 3.00 and you place a ৳500 bet — if you win, you get back ৳500 × 3.00 = ৳1,500 in total, which includes ৳1,000 profit plus your original ৳500 stake.

bijli suspends the market for a few seconds at the moment of each ball delivery, after a wicket falls, or immediately after any significant event, in order to set new odds. This is completely normal — you can place bets again once the new odds are available.
